Dutch women make it bronze, silver and gold in Paralymics 100m
Dutch paralympic sprinters have made a clean sweep of the 100 metres in the T64 class in Paris, with Fleur Jong taking gold ahead of team mates Kimberly Alkemade and Marlene van Gansewinkel.
Jong, who completed the distance in 12.54, earlier picked up gold in the long jump. Gansewinkel took silver in that event.
“This is a great result for us,” Jong said after the race. “We were good in the heats and had set our sights on the 1, 2, 3. I hope the world was watching. We have really advanced and I’m proud of that.”
The Netherlands in currently in fourth place on the medal table at the Paris Paralympics, with 24 gold medals, 14 silver and 10 bronze. China is top, followed by Britain and the US.
